The Masterwort Spirit is lightly spicy and discretely earthy and leaves behind a fresh, full taste. This spirit could not be more honest and authentic.
The unmistakable spicy aroma of the Masterwort Spirit is best savored at a drinking temperature of 20°C.
About the Tyrolean Masterwort Spirit
For our spirit, we use only the brown, thick and spindly roots of the plant. After careful cleaning we add the alcohol. Over many weeks the Masterwort Spirit releases its many ingredients and aromas. We are talking about a process of maceration during which an aromatic tincture ripens. This tincture is then finally distilled. The result is a fine and extremely representative-tasting spirit. The roots contain bitters, tanning agents, resin and cumin which create a tart, moderately earthy taste, one at the same time aromatically spicy and pleasantly fresh.
The hidden treasure by the wayside
Masterwort, in German also known as the ‘Mountain wort’ or ‘Emperor’s Wort’, is a herb widely found in the Alpine area. It grows in large quantities by the sides of fields and moist scrubland, blooms white and is a member of the umbellifer family. When passing it the watchful observer detects the strong, spicy scent of carrots and celery.
The old saying of the European alchemists that masterwort is the ginseng of Europe did not come about by chance. Not only Tyrol’s herbfarmers swore on the herb as household remedy. For Tyrolean, the spirit is above all the mellow crowning to a magnificent meal.
The masterwort is above all there to be enjoyed! Beyond this, we believe enjoyment of this spirit has various benefits in accordance with its tradition, even if only because of its incomparable taste quality.
