Jagatea
Jagatee is a traditional Tyrolean hot drink speciality. The name Jagatee or Jagertee is a protected designation that may only be used for products made in Austria and is subject to strict quality standards.
The original Tyrolean Jagatee from the Tyrolean herbal distillery is produced according to a traditional recipe. The rich concentrate was originally drunk by lumberjacks, hunters and foresters in the Tyrolean mountains in the 19th century.
The main ingredients of Jagatee are black tea, rum and fruit schnapps. Herbal extracts, spices and a little sugar are also added. In the Tiroler Kräuterdestillerie, fruit schnapps, herbal extracts and even the black tea extract are produced in the distillery.
Original Tyrolean Jagatee is a concentrate. You can make 25 cups of ready-to-drink tea from one litre bottle. Simply mix 4 parts hot water and 1 part Jagatee concentrate. However, the Tiroler Kräuterdestillerie's hunting tea must never be allowed to boil, as this would result in the loss of natural flavours and herbal substances!
Traditionally, Jagertee is served hot or warm. However, it is also a pleasure to drink it cold, especially in summer. "Jageria" is a summer drink made from Jager tea concentrate, fruit, soda water and ice cubes. A refreshing tip for cosy barbecue evenings.
No, Jagatee and "Glühwein" are completely different drinks. Jagatee is based on black tea, rum and fruit schnapps, while mulled wine is based on red wine with various spices. Wine must never be added to a Tyrolean Jagatee. This is also a quality criterion.
Hunting tea is traditionally drunk from a handled cup. There are no limits to the imagination, it can be small, large, colourful or classic white. The steam that rises from the cup and exudes the typical aroma is pure anticipation of the genuine Tyrolean Jagatee flavour.
