The real Gentian Schnapps is distilled from the fermented mash of the yellow Gentian root. In this process, the herbal distillery is one of the few producers that maintains this in the old, traditional way. The digging of the gentian root is strictly regulated. The farmers have so-called digging rights.
For distilling the gentian schnapps, mainly the yellow gentian is used, which can be found in the Alps up to 2,500 meters above sea level. This vigorous and perennial plant grows very slowly and does not flower until it is ten years old, but it can live for 40-60 years.
The result is an authentic earthy and powerful gentian schnapps with intense character.
