A schnapps is a high-proof alcoholic drink. Colloquially, it includes fruit schnapps, fruit brandy, spirits, but also herbal liqueurs, bitters and other spirits. Legally, the term fruit schnapps is precisely regulated. The alcohol content of the fruit schnapps must be at least 33% and the schnapps must not be flavoured or coloured.
