Bitter
Bitter is the name given to spirits with a bitter taste. The minimum alcohol content is 15 % vol. The boundary between liqueur and bitter is not always clear. Sometimes herbal liqueurs are also called bitters, which is not always correct. The bitter taste of these speciality spirits is due to the spices and herbs used. Bitters are particularly popular as an aperitif or digestif.
